Closet Voyeurism

closet outside

A blogger (when I remember who, I will credit her) mentioned recently how much she liked seeing other people's closets. I also like seeing other people's closets, so I thought I would post mine. The above is a picture of the outside; it's hard to get a good shot, both because of the shape of the room, and because I'm a terrible photog. Anyway, it's a pretty standard closet with bi-fold doors and one hanging bar/shelf. It's actually really long with two sets of doors, but my husband uses the other half. I keep trying to encroach, but he will have none of it. Notice that the closet appears to be leaking garments. I assure you, this is absolutely normal. Do not be alarmed.

Here's the inside:

Looking at this picture, I realize how much space I'm wasting up top. I might need to get in there and figure out a better way to use that. Maybe a shelf? While I'm at it, I should probably recycle those boxes. Also, note the Leopard Print Faux Fur Coat of Dooooom. This may be the final straw that causes Amish Ryan to divorce me. Or die of embarrassment. But it's so cuuuute, says I. The reason for the massive laundry pile, besides sheer laziness, is that if all my clothes are clean, they do not fit in this closet. I hope to have a walk-in someday, but until then, I may just get a bigger laundry basket. You may also notice what isn't here: shoes. They don't fit, so they are all piled up in boxes around the corner in the bedroom. The Shoe Mountain will be Exhibit B in the divorce filing, right after my faux fur coat.

You Should Know...

...that it is not a good idea to experiment with your new Max Factor Vivid Impact Eye Shadow two minutes before you have to leave for work. Especially the disco-esque gold color. Glittery! Blindingly so. On the upside, if you WERE trying to look like a Vegas showgirl, this would totally be the product for you!

Luckily I was able to blend/smear/scrape enough of it off that I looked okay for work. If you want a bold eyeshadow that sticks like glue, you might want to snap one of these up before Max Factor stops selling in the United States. Ulta had them half off.

Something You Should Know

Sometimes I get cravings for weird stuff. Lately, Pop Tarts have been one of those items. Until about 2 months ago, I hadn't eaten a Pop Tart since that fateful day in 2000 when I finally took a gander at the "nutritional" information. (Not required reading. If you luuuuuuv Pop Tarts, I would seriously scribble over it with a Sharpie because you just don't want to know.) Anyway. I wanted Pop Tarts, but I felt guilty about how they are little rectangles of high fructose corn syrup. Then I saw Whole Grain Pop Tarts! "That means they are good for you." I explained to my husband, who is ever-skeptical. But.

Whole grain Pop Tarts are disgusting. I mean, above and beyond the delightful disgusting-ness of ordinary Pop Tarts. They are dry and crumbly and not worth it. Go real or go home, people. Buy original Pop Tarts and drink some Metamucil if you have to. This has been a public service announcement.
